On the evening of Friday September 3rd Jarvis McMillian was honored during half-time of the Hobart High School football game. This past spring Jarvis had a historical performance at the IHSAA Track & Field Championships. Jarvis who is only a junior, became the first male in the history of the boys track and field state finals to win the 100 (10.69), 200 (21.48), and 400 (47.45) meter events. He also accomplished what no other male athlete had done before by scoring 30 points in a single state meet. All told Jarvis has a total of 5 medals at the state championships having earned two by placing 8th in the 100 (10.88) and 7th in the 200 (22.51) in 2009 as a student at Gary Wirt which closed it's doors at the end of the 2009 school year. Also worth mentioning are near misses, finishing10th place in the 400m in 2009 and as a member of the 4x400 in 2010 where Jarvis along with teammates Kendall Gunn, Vince Jimenez and Chad Brooks narrowly missed a medal placing 10th.
The 2010 track season was a historic one for the Brickies!
